Hi, I’m Dr. Magili Chapman
Dance has been a lifelong companion, it nourishes me deeply and makes life rich and expressive. Daily movement is one way I care for myself, feel and express joy and passion.
Becoming a physician wasn’t always part of the plan.
During my own health challenges as a young woman I met my Osteopathic mentor, Judy Shedd, DO. Her unique and caring approach inspired me. After earning an undergraduate degree in Communication from Stanford University, I completed a post-baccalaureate pre-med certificate at Mills College. My medical training was completed at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, graduating in 2003. I then went on to complete my Family Medicine Residency at Central Maine Medical Center in 2006. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to practice in diverse settings, both private and public.
My background includes trauma-informed care, mental health, and the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and injury. Women’s health and sexual health are special areas of recent interest. My foundation in family medicine has given me the skills and breadth to support people of all ages through a wide range of health challenges.
Beyond my work as a physician, life is full and exciting with two teenage daughters. Walking, hiking, swimming, and skiing are favorite activities. Yoga is a daily practice, both as a teacher and a student. Food and nutrition are what ground me and keep my own body healthy and vibrant. Attending to the senses, honoring emotion, and cultivating pleasure feel essential to me in living a full and meaningful life.
